Silver had never experienced pain. Not like she had just felt. It was horrible… the pain she felt made her feel like she just wanted her life to end. It didn’t help when the guard shoved her back into her cell with enough force for her to crash to the ground.
As he slammed the door behind her, she curled into a ball on the floor, to weak to stand up, and cried.
She was in immense pain.
She hadn’t eaten in days.
She was lonely.
She missed her brother… her family.
Hiccup, Merida, Jack, Rapunzel, Toothless; all of them. She just wanted to go home…
She was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn’t hear the door open.
Someone stumbles inside and the door slammed shut behind him. He wore all black clothes and had white stripes all over his body. He rubbed the back of his neck as he morphed into his full human form and glared at the closed door as though it had just insulter him.
He heard a small sound and spun around. “Who’s there?” He demanded.
He heard a whimper and saw something scramble away from him on the ground. He cocked his head to one side and took a step towards it but it just tried to scoot further away- even though it had already cornered itself against the wall.
He held out a hand in a universal gesture of peace. “It’s okay.” He said. “I’m not gonna hurt you.” He could tell that whatever thing was, it had been tortured.
“Who… are you…?” The voice was small. Feminine. Scared.
“My name is Dante.” He replied. “I’m a friend.”
“What are you?” The thing in the corner asked, terrified.
“I’m a Night Fury.”
“Y-You’re like me…?”
“Yes. Who are you?”
“Are you okay?” Dante asked. There was no response. He opened his mouth to say something, but then he heard a noise from the hall.
“Hey! It’s a Ni- ARGH!” The guards shout was abruptly cut off and a thudding sound was heard as he hit the ground. Silver squeaked in alarm and pressed herself closer against the wall. Dante got to his feet and pressed against the wall next to the door in wait to see what had attacked the guard.
“Silver…?” A voice called.
Silver knew the voice. She wanted to call out to him, but she didn’t have the energy. She wanted to tell Dante that he was friend but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t speak.
“Silver, if you’re in there, I’m gonna bust open the door!” The voice called.
“Toothless, why don’t we just find the keys?” Another voice asked.
“No time!” The first voice replied. There was a short pause, then a loud crash and the door flung open on its hinges. As soon as the person was in, Dante leapt on top of him and pinned him to the ground.
The attacker kicked Dante off of him and began to stand up.
“STOP!” Dante looked up in surprise as the quiet, scared voice shouted so loudly. Then Silver collapsed.
“Silver!” Toothless shouted in alarm. He scrambled to his feet, but Dante was faster. He caught Silver and looked at Toothless in confusion.
“Who the hell are you?” He asked.
“I could be asking you the same question!” Toothless replied angrily.
“I’m a friend of Silver’s.” Dante said, fighting to keep his voice level. “I’m her cell mate.”
“Toothless! We’ve got company!” A voice shouted from outside of the cell. There was the sound of a burst of energy and a shout and Toothless knew that Jack had struck down one of the Nonkrel guards.
Toothless let a low growl escape his throat. He knew that if he was gonna get Silver out of there in enough time, he’d need help. He’d thought that Silver would be able to fly out on her own, but in her condition…
“Can you fly?” Toothless growled. Dante nodded. “Then come on. Toothless walked out of the cell and spun on his heel, turning to his full Night Fury form. He growled and made a head gesture for Hiccup to climb on him.
“You got it bud!” Hiccup climbed on and held out a hand. Merida, Horace, Will, you ride with me. Punzie, you go with Jack!”
The others all did as they were told. Toothless spread out his wings and took off, flying through the dark corridors of the Nonkrel prison as a black blur. To Dante’s surprise, Jack took off from the ground Punzie on his back and flew off after the dragon.
Dante turned into his anthro form and began to fly after them with Silver in his arms.
He turned a corner and saw the light of day. He beamed and turned around. He gasped. One of the Nonkrels was reaching towards him, claws extended.
With one savage, strong swipe, the Nonkrel cut several long wounds in Dante’s arm. Dante shouted out in pain but kept his hole on Silver tight.
The Nonkrel snarled in anger and prepared the killing blow, but before he could serve it, Silver kicked him hard in the face. He shouted in pain and fell out of the air.
Dante smiled at her. “Nice.” He said.
“Yeah, I owed you one.” Silver growled in reply, staring straight ahead. Dante looked ahead and flew out of the cave, back into the open air.
The three groups spread out. Toothless headed upwards as Merida shot arrows at the Nonkrels chasing them. Jack went to the left, shooting sparks of ice at the Nonkrels behind him.
Dante went to the right. Seeing as he had no weapon, he used his speed as a defense and flew as fast as he could. He didn’t stop until he reached a large island. He landed and set Silver down on her feet, letting her lean on him for balance, and turned to face the sky.
He wasn’t waiting for long before Toothless spiraled down from the sky, recover beautifully, and landed nearby in a way that must have been practiced thousands of times.
Not long after that, Jack landed a bit ahead of the two on a hill and let Punzie climb off of her back.
The members of the group all exchanged glances for several moments, none of them sure of quite what to say.
“Well that was fun!” Punzie said cheerfully.
Silver and Jack both just facepalmed.
